This past summer, I had the gift of dancing with my 93‑year‑old mother at my niece’s wedding. She’ll be 94 next month, and every time I’m with her, I’m reminded what it truly means to stretch your dash.
A couple of weeks ago she lost her younger sister and over the past two years, she has lost five of her closest friends. Yet her spirit hasn’t dimmed. She still laughs easily. She still shows up fully. She still chooses joy.
My parents raised 10 children. Today she has 36 grandchildren, more than 30 great‑grandchildren, and more on the way. She still attends every family gathering — and she’s always one who wants to stay late.
She’s active in her assisted living community, grateful for every day, and genuinely delighted by the simple things: a conversation, a hug, weekly bingo, a dance with a family member.
My mother is my hero! She inspires me to live with gratitude, to stay connected, to keep moving, and to savor the moments that make life meaningful.
This week, take moment to reflect: Who inspires you — and why?
And how might their example help you stretch your own dash a little further today?
If today’s message stirred something in you, I’d be grateful if you shared the Dash Digest with just one person who might need a little encouragement. Your small act of sharing helps this community grow – one intentional connection at a time.
