Patience

Stress has a way of sneaking up on us.
A long line. A delay. A moment that feels unfair or out of our control.
And in those moments, we get to choose: anger or patience.

I’ve chosen both in my life.
But recently, while standing in a 90‑minute line at the Avis rental counter, I felt the difference more clearly than ever.

People around me were frustrated.
You could feel the tension in the air — crossed arms, heavy sighs, muttered complaints.
And I’ve been that guy before.
Anger feels justified in the moment… until it doesn’t.

When You Choose Anger:

• Your heart rate spikes
• Your shoulders tighten
• Your mind narrows to everything that’s wrong

And After:
• You feel drained
• You replay the moment
• You carry the tension with you
• The situation still didn’t change

Anger gives you a quick hit of power, but it leaves a long trail of stress behind it.

Choose Patience

That day in line, I chose differently.
I cracked a joke.
Started a conversation.
A few people joined in.
The energy shifted — not because the line moved faster, but because we did.

When you choose patience:

• Your body relaxes
• You stay present instead of spiraling
• You create connection instead of conflict

After:

• You’re proud of how you handled it
• You walk away with energy, not exhaustion
• You realize you can handle more than you thought

Patience doesn’t change the situation — it changes you in the situation.
